    The difference is that a hurricane has a counter-clockwise rotation while a cyclone has a clockwise rotation.

    This is due to the fact to the fact that hurricanes form in the northern hemisphere while cyclones form in the southern hemisphere.

    Hurricane is a carib origin name, caribs were an indian tribe in several caribbean islands

    Cyclone is a Greek name.

    both reffer to the same phemomenom. Usually cyclons are called in the east pacific, and hurricane in the atlantic.

    It is coriolis effect what makes hurricanes, cyclones, tiphons, baguios turn ccw in the northern hemisphere, and cw in southern.
