What's the difference between a large and small barrel curling iron?

i want wavy hair like vanessa hudgens and kim kardashian. how should i do it?

It refers to the width of the iron.  Small barrel irons make tighter curls, while large barrel irons make bigger curls that work for the wavy kind of curls. I would recommend at least a 1 and a half inch barrel for that style. & use some hairspray!
