  1. Only difference is the maid of honor isn't married and the matron of honor is. They have the same duties though.

  2. Usually a matron of honour  is married but can also be an older woman that is not married as you could not call an older woman a maid.

A maid of honour is a young unmarried woman, usually over 16 as under that age she is called a bridesmaid.

Typically a maiden is a virgin or an unmarried girl hence maid of honour.

  3. The maid of honor isn't married, she's still a "maid," whereas the matron of honor is married. They both have the same responsibilities, though.

  4. It's the same position, the only difference is that the maid is single and the matron is married.

  5. Maid = never been married

Matron = married, widowed, or divorced.

And yes, one can have both at one wedding.

Or . . . one can opt for 2 maids. Or 2 matrons. It is up to bride.

They simply divide the duties. One can stand next to bride, holding her bouquet during ceremony. The other can sign the marriage license as a witness. One can plan the bridal shower, while the other plans the bachelorette party.

  6. maid is a non-married lady and matron is a married girl.

  7. Maid of honor is a single woman ...Matron is a married woman
