What's the difference between a male and a female goldfish?

I want to bread at least some of my fish!!!!!! I'm so jealous because my friend has bred 4 and he said that it's easy.

Their breeding period is in mid spring to early Summer, so now is too late; you'll have to wait next April or so.

male goldfish are bigger but are more ugly. female are smaller, have long fins, and give birth!! lol

ok well usually the female is fatter on one side than the other if looked closely from above the males tend to get little spots (like pimples) by their gills and another way is that the male is always chasing the female if they are in a tank they wont breed untill they are in a pond  and put weed in it so they can hide their eggs too

The male is bigger, fatter and looks a bit more deformed. Well, because you want to breed some fish you should get some guppies. They can live in cold water. You will have millions of guppies and won't have to be jealous-much more fish than your friend.
