  1. The Marines are a subsection of the Department of the Navy.  Their primary purpose is to provide security for the ship, forces to board and secure other vessels, and a flexible ground combat element that can be rapidly deployed from sea to support the mission of the Navy and the Military as a whole.  They, technically, belong to the Navy...but they have thier own training standards as well as seperate training facilities, thier own chain of command and rank structure, thier own customs and traditions, and are, for all intents and purposes, a completely seperate branch.

  2. Two completely seperate branches of the military. Marines work on land, sea, and air. Marines have much harder physical and mental training in bootcamp. Also, Marines are on the frontlines in combat.

  3. Dont judge the name of "marine" it really has nothing to do with water or subs, nothing like that, marines are top of the military they are suppose to be trained better and harder than the other ranks, "airforce army navy" they are more about battle, even tho there are all kinds of jobs they have.

    my bother is a marine.

i dont really know much about navy

  4. The Navy consists of the submarines, ships (and the aircraft that land on them) and other specialty areas who focus on sea operations.  The Marines are a part of the Department of the Navy, and are often transported on Navy ships, but fight largely on the ground instead of from the sea.

  5. marines are funded through the navy.  navy is strictly sea, marines do air, land, and sea.  they suck though, i was in the army and we the average grunt had more gizmo's and gadgets on our weapon systems, and what not that they thought we were special forces. and im talking about standard issue for the army.  glad i didn't join the marines.

  6. A marine is part of the navy.

  7. A Marine is a soldier in The Marines, trained in combat and specifically amphibious warfare. A navy is a collection of ships.
