What's the difference between a message board and a message forum?

A forum (as the word itself suggests) is usually more focused on multi-directional discussions and debates, often being more sophisticated in its design as a result.

Message boards however tend to more basic in there layout/construction and are more likely to be used as a means of providing feedback on an article or topic. Yahoo Answers could best be described as a message board, as one does not have the easy ability to engage with other posters but simply the one asking the question.
