  1. The phone and the PC are two different kinds of computers, running different operating systems - pretty much like a PC and a Mac. Generally, programs (including viruses) for one of these computers do not work on the other - although it is possible to write programs that would work in more than one environment.

PC viruses replicate mostly via the Internet and (much less nowadays) via file exchange. Mobile phone viruses replicate mostly via Bluetooth, MMS (*not* SMS) and MMC card exchange.

Many PC anti-virus programs can detect mobile viruses. However, for disinfection purposes, it is best to have a mobile phone-based anti-virus program. Such programs are usually specialized and know exactly what files to remove and from where. (Malicious programs for mobile phones often consist of many - sometimes hundreds - files on the infected phone.)
