  1. empirical formula is the simplier form of a molecular formula. the molecular formula is the formula that shows all the atoms present in the compound


  2. A molecular formula tells you exactly how many of each atom are in a molecule.  For example, the molecular formula of regular table sugar is C6H12O6.

    An empirical formula tells you the relative number of atoms in a molecule.  Using table sugar again, the empirical formula would be CH2O.
