What's the difference between a "Canadian Visa" and a "Permanent Resident Visa"?

I am applying for a course in college and on the application form it asks for "Visa" and the two options that probably relate to me are the Canadian and Permanent Resident options. I don't know which option I should select, and was hoping you guys could help me out. FYI I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba but moved to Calgary and I've never left the country for more than a summer. I hope that's all the information I need to tell you. I need to make sure I put the correct information on the application form, hopefully you guys can help. Thanks!

  1. Being born in Canada I will assume you are a Canadian citizen. If this is the case, the Permanent Resident status doesn't apply to you. Permanent Residents are generally landed immigrants who are not Canadian citizens yet.

What college are you applying for? If it's in Canada you shouldn't need a visa at all.

These are all assumptions however, and the information you provided is not enough for a conclusive answer.
