What's the difference between a restaurant and a "Lounge?"?

My friend invited me to go out to a lounge with her once, and I felt kinda silly asking her what that meant.

A restaurant is mainly a place for dining & usually serves liquor,& may or may not  have a bar.

There are generally no age restrictions though minors can not be served liquor.

A "lounge" is basically the other way around.

Mainly a liquor business , but food may be served & sometimes have entertainment.

More often will require proof of  legal age to enter.
