What's the difference between a stimulus and a response?

Anybody know? Don't make it to complicated i need to be able to understand the answer! thank you!

  1. A stimulus 'stimulates' you and a response is how you respond.  If you are stimulated by cold water your response may be to shiver.  If you place your hand on a hot stove the heat will stimulate your skin (ouch!) and your response will be to withdraw your hand (even without thinking).
