  1. A stun gun works on "pain compliance".  It generates extreme pain causing the person to back away.

A Taser works on "muscular disruption".  It generates pain and sends a signal that blocks the brains signals to the voluntary muscles of the body.  That are muscles you need to think about to move, arms, legs.  It does not interfere with involuntary muscles, heart, lungs.

Despite what is floating around as "truth", the Taser does not kill.  In all of the Taser uses to date there is only one where the Taser was considered part of the cause, and that one was only considered as 10 percent of the cause.  The rest were found to be that the Taser was not part of the cause of death of the suspects, there were other causes.  All of this is verifiable through several sources.  Washington Medical Research in St. Louis, Missouri, and other studies available from Taser.com.

  2. stun gun stuns, taser shocks with high voltage and could cause paralasis or death (if you have a lot of alcohal in your bloodstreem/drugs)

  3. Whats the difference cops still use them as much as they can and as often as they can. I watched 3 BelmeadTexas police taser a black man 7-9 times a piece. Stand around laughing and joking about it after they hauled him away in an ambalance (he wasn't breathing). and later died. His body later was incinerated by accident before the autopsy.

  4. Both stun guns and Tasers are extremely effective self defense products. A taser fires two electronic probes at a speed of 135 feed per second into the body of an attacker. A stun gun,the attacker has to be next to you. If he is beyond the distance of your arm, the stun gun is worthless.
