What's the difference between a terrace or balcony for a resort room?

We have the choice of either one.

Normally terrace is at ground level you can pass by in front of your neighbor sliding door.   Balcony is a sitting area that you can get our of your room (normally in the 2nd floor and up), it has better privacy.  

Of course, terrance also sometimes mean "larger deck" space if you are renting villa or large private suites.

A Terrace is on the ground floor.

A balcony is higher up and is more difficult for intruders to access.
