  1. they are two different wireless specs.  802.11n is faster and has better range than 802.11g.  it depends what wireless card is in your laptop.  it will have at least wireless g.  also, the spec for 802.11n isn't finalized yet, and can change in the future.

  2. wireless g is an established wifi standard approved by the IEEE. Wireless n is still a draft not finally ratified. Wireless n promises to provide much higher bandwidth and further reach than its  predecessors such as b/g.  The problem is that it's still a draft and if you buy a wireless N router today you run the risk that when the final version comes out it may not be compatible with the real thing.

As I read an article recently here in the States, draft is good for a beer (pint for you) but not good for a standard.  For speeds and feeds see the IEEE website. It has all the tech specs you can shake a stick at. Unless you have some overwhelming reason to buy N just wait till it gets ratified.

Also check your wifi adapter in your laptop. It should be documented if its b/g (probably is if it's new) and if it's N draft.

  3. N is faster.  G is slower.  G with Mimo with fast enough for web browsing.

I truly believe in this technology: http://www.cnet.com/4520-7390_1-6274537-...

  4. Simply put, buy a wireless G router, Linksys is a good brand...Also N is the new wi-fi that isn't fully finished yet...So stick to wireless G.
