What's the difference between an ipod and a mp3 player ?

An iPod IS an mp3 player.  All iPods are mp3 players, but not all mp3 players are iPods.  IPods are just a brand.  Just like the Zune is just a brand.  There is no difference.

i don't know the difference the only thing i know is that an ipod is easier to understand and is way better than and mp3

ipods are more advance then mp3 players they are also less complecated to understand. plus they are way better!

mp3 players usually support more music formats.

an ipod supports mp3 and AAC.

a creative zen, for example supports: mp3, aac, AND WMA

besides that, the look and feel are different. and you basically have to use an ipod if you buy from itunes. (although, i would suggest buying from Amazon mp3 instead. fair use!)
