What's the difference between archaeologist & paleontologist?

An archaeologist studies past cultures.  The goal is to learn the same sorts of things about a past culture through its remains as a cultural anthropologist does through fieldwork.

A paleontologist is a biologist who studies the remains of past species i order to learn as much about there form, growth ecology and evolution as possible.

A paleoanthropologist is a biological anthropologist who specializes in the study of human evolution.  They do a combination of the jobs of the archaeologist and paleontologist, roughly.

Paleontology is the study of ancient lifeforms (much like modern biology). Archeology is the study of ancient cultures (much like modeern sociology).
