  1. cross country is basically what it as face value. you run in the woods and on the grass. while track and feild is the one with the large red track. and usually in the middle there is a football field and that is where the field event in track and field take place. these include softball throw, (for recreation track) on trhe long straight side, it is 100 meters. where a person middle school age, runs it in about 14.5 seconds (my time) for 200 meter, you start at the beginning of one turn, and go through the turn till you hit the beginning of the next turn. there is 400 meter, which is the whole track (1/4 mile) 800 meter (1/2 mile) and 1600 meter (1 whole mile)  some of the events which i think are in the middle are standing long jump, running long jump, and the three jump stride. good luck

  2. Track and field has a variety of races and field events that involve a circular track.  If outdoors it's 400 meters around, whereas indoors is usually around 200 meters.  Cross country is always outside, in any conditions, involving hills, flat land, mud, cement, grass, rain, snow, insanity and fun.  The distances are generally 2 + miles for girls and 5K for boys in high school, and 5K for women and 8-10K for men in college.  CC is in the fall, and track is in the spring.

  3. Cross country- Its just running. Running long distances.

Track & Field- Its running, hurdles, shot-put

  4. Cross Country is strictly running. Track and Field have running and field events such as Discus,Shot Put,Long Jump,Pole Vault, etc. I myself prefer Track and Field.

  5. Cross country is more long distance and is ran in al types of locations. Track is more short distance and is ran on a track.

Cross Country is competitive just so u know. I've ran both

  6. track and field are more competitive, also in track and field the field events such as shot put, javelin, long jump and high jump.

i have never been in cross country but it is a lot more long distance running and not really as competitive as track and field.
