What's the difference between foam flowers and silk flowers?

It's not going in an envelope, I'm talking full size artificial flowers. I'm doing some floristry for a wedding and haven't done an awful lot of artificial flowers before, so I'm just wondering whether silk flowers and foam flowers are actually the same, given that they look very similar in the pictures.

  1. Surely the silk flowers will look more real, and will be able to stick on a piece of card more easily and will not make it as hard to stick in an envelope.

  2. Silk flowers are very realistic looking and would be the choice of flower for the wedding ;)))

  3. Foam flower petals are thicker than silk flower petals. They don't have that flower petal feel that silk can reproduce; rather they will feel like foam sheeting. Up close they do not look nearly as real as silk, and are more for outdoor events, or places where the flowers will need to stand up to harsher treatment.

Since people tend to get rather close to look and poke at flower arrangements at weddings, I think you should use the silk since they will look and feel more realistic up close.
