What's the difference between foundation/tint and bronzer?

Hello! Not long ago I got a little makeover from a Clarins lady. She used a foundation tint on me and the last thing she used was a two tone bronzer. I purchased the eyeshadow and foundation and lippy gloss etc but not the bronzer.

I'm now considering going and getting the bronzer... but before I do (cos it's like $60) ... what the h**l do I do with it? Why do you need both foundation and bronzer? Where does the bronzer go and how much do i put on? Do I put my blusher on after it? I know the basics but can you run me through the steps adding duo-bronze... I'm fairly pale so the last thing I want is a face that looks like a caramel chocolate and the rest of me is a milkwhite chocolate! (or something to that effect). HELP! :)

PS> I want this looking PERFECTLY natural cos the more I wear the worse it looks. I want less is more look, cos that is what suits me.

  1. I use bronzer not really to change the color of my face, just to warm up my skin tone a bit. Apply foundation, blush, and all the rest of your makeup first. I use bronzer last to give a matte finish and to add just a slight flush of color on cheeks, forehead, nose, etc.

  2. it gives an extra glow
