  1. My understanding is the Gyro is greek whereas Doner would be Turkish (very close to the same thing).   They are ground lamb/beef mixed and cooked on a rotisserie and sliced.

Burrito is a Mexican wrap with a flour tortilla, fried beans, chicken or beef

  2. From my understanding a gyro and a doner are very similar where the meat (usually ground and made from beef or lamb) is served on a pita.  The meat is often cooked on a vertical rotisserie and sliced off the rotisserie.  Other condiments include a garlic-yogurt sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and feta or some type of sheeps milk cheese.

A burrito is meat (can be ground or grilled, beef or pork... and of course chicken) is served rolled in a burrito with beans, rice, salsa and sometimes cheese.

I would think a gyro and a doner are more closely related to a taco instead of a burrito.  Tacos are served folded in half while a burrito is rolled into a cylinder-like package.

  3. another country  is the difference there

  4. Basically gyro and döner are the respective Greek and Turkish name for the same dish : reconstituted meat grilled on a vertical spit, then sliced and served as a sandwich.

A burrito is a Mexican dish that puts a filling (there are a lot of possible fillings) in a soft corn tortilla. can be eaten as a sandwich or as a plate dish with ustensils.

  5. Döner is a famous Turkish kebab which literally means 'turning' kebab. Gyros in Greek and Shawarma in Arabic are almost similar dishes.

While mainly known as a fast food treat outside Turkey, proper döner is in fact, an epicurean delight, made by cooking layers of marinated lamb on a vertical skewer, sometimes topped by vegetables and fat whose juices drip down and infuse the meat with their flavor. The upright skewer turns slowly and is cooked by a vertical radiant heat. This kind of kebab dates back some 150 years and was invented in Bursa.

As it cooks, the meat is sliced off and served.

Most fast food eateries serve döner with rice or with pide as a pita sandwich.

In its homeland Bursa, döner is usually served on a bed of pide (pita bread) with tomato sauce, melted butter and yoghurt. This version is called İskender kebab or yogurtlu kebab.

In fast food restaurants, they may also wrap it into flour tortillas. This version is called 'dürüm döner' in Turkey. When served like this, it looks like burittos and people may confuse it with buritto.
