  1. The difference between a plasma and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) television is the technology used to manufacture them.

A plasma television consists of two transparent glass panels with a thin layer of pixels sandwiched in between. Each pixel is composed of three gas-filled cells. A grid of tiny electrodes applies an electric current to the individual cells, causing the gas in the cells to ionize. This ionized gas emits high-frequency ultra violet rays which stimulate the phosphors of the cells, causing them to glow the desired color.

An LCD television consists of two polarizing transparent panels and a liquid crystal solution sandwiched in between. The front layer of glass is etched on the inside surface in a grid pattern to form a template for the layer of liquid crystals. Each crystal acts like a shutter, either allowing light to pass through or blocking the light. The pattern of transparent and dark crystals forms the image

  2. Bansal's answer is right

  3. I'm not 100% sure, but what I do know is that a plasma costs more, looks slightly better, yet has to be "recharged" ever so often which can cost quite a bit.  Also, plasmas don't do so well in higher elevations.

  4. an lcd does not reflect light and it shows lighter colors better. A plasma reflects light and shows darker colors better. An lcd is generally more expensive than a plasma. Also every so many years a plasma has to have the little bulbs filled up again while an lcd doesn't.

    I recommend getting an LCD

  5. I'm not a huge expert, but when i was looking for a HDTV I learned that an LCD TV actual has a clearer image then a plasma and is able to be viewed up close. A plasma is not as clear but is less expensive per square inch. What this all means is basically if you are going big, talking 60-100 inch then go with the plasma because you will most likely be viewing at a reasonable distance (across a room) and it will be a lot more economical then an LCD TV at that size, but if you are going 50 or smaller then definitely get an LCD because like I said, the picture is clearer.
