  1. Lost can be the past tense of the verb, "to lose" (as in "The boys lost their game of football today,", or it can be an adjective, "The lost puppy was found hiding under the table"

  2. "lose" is the potential not to win or to misplace something.  "lost" is a done deal, you already have misplaced something or have not won.

that even confused me... and i was typing it!

  3. lose is a verb means unable to find while lost is an adjective means gone or missing

  4. One is happening then and one is past tence saying that someone or something already lost.

  5. Lost is the past tense.  "I lost the game"

Lose is more of what will or may happen.  I will lose the game. or: I may lose the game.
