  1. weight is relative, it can change based on gravity.  Mass stays the same no matter where you are.

  2. A five pound bag of sugar weighs 5 pounds here on earth.

In orbit it's weighs 1.8333 pounds. It has the takes up the same space however.

Mass -the amount of matter in the object.

Weight - a measure of the mass in kg times the intensity of the gravity field, 9.8 Newtons/kg

  3. Weight depends on gravitational force. A mass of a body will never change, whereas weight changes according to gravity.

  4. mass is simply the amount of "stuff" in something, it doesnt change (unless you eat or something). weight is the pull of gravity on mass and can depend on your mass, the mass of the planet or moon your own, if your accelerating away from the planet, your elevation, etc.

when you think about it, weight is really a very stupid and useless idea.
