  1. Some people may not call naan what you call naan. They may name it something else. But generally, naan is, like puffed bread, while tandoori roti is the big, round or oval, roti that is prepared in the tandoor. You must have seen the big round hole in the ground from which flames of fire shoot out. That is called a tandoor. The dough of the shaped up roti is stuck on the inside of the tandoor and the flames cook it to crisp. It is done using long metal tongs.

Hope my info was uselful for you.

  2. Both of the answers have there good point but the real difference is naan is a white flour yeast raised dough, cooked in the tandoori oven while roti is made with a whole wheat flour is not yeast based and is flatter and more chewy like a tortilla, both are serve with Indian curries to use as a scoop to eat the food, naan tends to be long and cylinderical were roti round and like a pita or Mexican tortilla.

I am former chef and have eaten Indian food in Canada, Singapore, Jamaica, the U.K and in Japan, I regularly go to a number of places here in Toronto Canada both Southern, Northern and Veg based cuisines.

  3. Naan is made from refined flour and tandoori roti is not. Hence roti is healthier than naan.
