  1. "Karats" gave the first correct answer.

You cannot simply plug an antenna into a HD Ready television. It does not have the 'tuner' to find HD signals.

There was controversy/lawsuits over how to broadcast HD television signals. The standards could change so they designed televisions that did NOT include a tuner, but sold the tuners separately for about $100.  This way if things changed, you just bought a different tuner and your HDTV would still work.  These were called "HD Ready" sets.

You can save a few bucks and buy a "Ready" television if you  dont plan on using an antenna.

  2. HD ready means the television can display a high definition image. (720p or greater) Full HD means the television can display a 1080p picture.

  3. HD ready means the tv can display a HD picture if you have a separate tuner. Full HD means that the tv has a built in ATSC tuner.
