what s the difference bewteen "Sorry for..." and "Sorry to..." ??

One of them implies the future or?

  1. sorry for... implies that you are apologizing for a certain event

    sorry to . . . is directed towards someone to whom you are apologizing

    Sorry for is apologizing for something that has already happened.

    Sorry to is apologizing in advance; often for bringing bad news.

  3. Use "sorry for" to apologize for something you did.  I'm sorry for what I said yesterday, etc.

    Use "sorry to" to apologize for something you are about to do. I'm sorry to interrupt, but... I'm sorry to bother you, but...
