Is there a meaningful difference between these two occurrences? If so, which is more severe? Thanks...

  1. It's just in the definition of the term.

Assume there are 3 towns.  They are 100 miles apart.

    a) Jonestown

    b) Smithtown'

    c) Moosedroppings

In the instance of scattered thunderstorms, all three towns will receive thunderstorms throughout the day. (Several storms)

In the instance of Isolated...it appears that there is a narrow band displaying some of the low preassure that would indicate thunderstorms.  All might get showers...but only Moosedroppings will get isolated thunderstorms.

  2. scattered and isolated are just terms that explain how many thunderstorms are expected that day. So, if there are isolated storms expected only a few are expexted in the area. If there are scattered the storms are widley spread. If ur ISOLATED somewhere u r away from everybody else.  If u SCATTER  game peices they are spread out all over the place.  There is no difference in how bad the storms can be.  Hope this helps!!! <3
