  1. "Then" relates to time while "than" is a comparing word.

    First we will go to the mall, then we can go to the movies. OR

    I have to do my homework first, then I can go to the game.

    Jim is taller than Bob. OR

    I would rather eat live hornets than listen to someone lecture me.


  2. than=quantity (ex. more than)

    then (ex. that was then this is now)

  3. then would be like what happens next

    ex- we went to the store then to the mall



    than would be like a comparison

    ex-chocolate is so much better than vanilla.
