Spaniards  are white. South americans  are mostly mixed.

To the idiots "coco loco and emily jane": No. Contrary to your ignorant american belief, Spanish people from Spain, Europe are  not the same thing as south americans. It's not the same with british and americans or australians. Like I said, the only thing they have in common is that they speak the same  language: Castillian spanish.

I think basically the only thing we share that's unique is language, with differences in accents and some words (there are differences in accents and vocabulary among Latin American countries too). Latin America has a heritage that goes way beyond Spanish and which is not really shared overseas. It has to be said that Spain doesn't have one national identity, but several diverse national identities: Catalan, Basque, Galician, Andalusian... Each region has different traditions, cuisine and culture, and several languages (not only Spanish -which we call Castellano, the natural language of Castilla, another Spanish region) are massively and officially spoken and taught in Spain. Besides, not only Iberians were settled here (and they weren't all over the Peninsula) but also Celts, for instance.
