  1. The difference lies in the weight and the shaft setup in relation to the heel of the putter. Blade putters are usually lighter and the shaft goes right into the heel. Mallot putters have center shafted, heel shafted like blades and plumber neck shafts the little quirk on most putters. To each his own

when it comes to the putter none is better its all suited to the player and conditions.

  2. The difference is in the shape of the putter head. A mallet head putter is an elongated putter(mallet shaped/semi-circle) with a lot of mass behind the ball. A blade putter is more of a slender, bar shaped putter head that has a consistent thickness from the toe of the putter to the heel of the putter. Neither is better than the other, it's a matter of preference.

  3. Blade putters have a more slender head, while mallet putters have a larger head, which moves weight toward the rear of the putter (and make the putter head generally heavier than a blade).

It's a personal preference as to which is better.  Many people feel that they have a better "feel" for the putt with a blade, while the mallet may be easier to keep the face square due to there being more weight.

Personally, I like a mallet putter as it feels like I strike the ball smoother with one.  I feel more confident with one, so I use it.
