I know they are both tests that you take to get into college, but what's the difference between the two.

  1. There is no difference...it is all a bunch of made up c**p by the schools!  If your parents have enough COH (Cash on Hand) you can get into any school, regardless of SAT, ACT, IQ, GPA, or criminal record!

  2. I dont think there is a difference cuz they are both tests

  3. Sat colleges look at ACT they dont

  4. SAT's are like for better schools.

  5. Here is the difference:

    Sat:

    Seven times per year

Ten-section exam: Three Critical Reading, three Math, three Writing, and one Experimental. The Experimental section is masked to look like a regular section.

Math: up to 9th grade basic geometry and Algebra II. Science: none.

Reading: sentence completions, short and long critical reading passages, reading comprehension.

Writing: an essay, and questions testing grammar, usage, and word choice

    Penalty for wrong answers

format is scored: 200-800 per section, added together for a combined score. A 2400 is the highest possible combined score.

If a student requests a score report be sent to specific colleges, the report will include the scores the student received on every SAT taken.

Registration is  At least six weeks before the test date

    ACT:

    Six times per year

Four-section exam: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. An Experimental section is added to tests on certain dates only, and is clearly experimental.

Math: up to trigonometry. Science: charts, experiments. Reading: four passages, one each of Prose Fiction, Social Science, Humanities, and Natural Science.

    English: stresses grammar.

    No penalty for wrong answers

Format is scored: 1-36 for each subject, averaged for a composite score. A 36 is the highest possible composite score.

There is a "Score Choice" option. Students can choose which schools will receive their scores AND which scores the schools will see.

Registration At least four weeks before the test date

  6. SAT is reading and writing and math..

ACT is the same sort of..but it has science in it also.

i prefer the SAT partially because i thought the test was a lot easier and half the words they tell you that you have to know.ISNT EVEN ON IT! well mayb a lil but..not worth it to sit there memorizing. the college board SAT book is a lot harder than the test is.

apparently most people think that the ACT is a lot easier, but i found the whole section on deciphering graphs really hard. plus time was abig deal in that test. its to your advantage to complete every question in the book cuz you dont get counted off for guessing

on the other hand, its better to leave stuff blank on the SAT. guess only if you can eliminate 2 or more.

the SAT is REQUIRED for college..but the ACT..only some colleges require it. its best to take both and research the college you want to go to.

    GOOD LUCK!

  7. they are essentially the same thing, college prep tests. i hear that the ACT is easier though. and it's shorter i believe.

  8. They are both tests that prove if you are able to pass....So I don't think it matters really...
