  1. The Daily Racing Form (DRF) is a newspaper published by a private business (not a racetrack). The DRF has data on Thoroughbreds including their past performances, info on all their previous races including post position, jockey, track condition, equipment changes, and short narratives of the race. You need this past info to have a chance at handicapping a race accurately.

The racing program is published by the race track and lists all the races on the card that day with all the horses entered, their trainer, jockey, any medications or equipment changes. The program is definitely worth buying but only gives you info about today's race not how the horse has run before.

  2. some race tracks like the ones in California, have a dfr. spot inside

of their racing programs. so you get their opinion of each horse in

each race without buying the form. if you do buy the form get it

the day before you go....so you can have plenty of time to study it.

  3. Usually about $1.75.
