  1. ok the easier way to set it up is it read the manual for your head unit, it will tell you the pre-out voltage and look at the gain k**b on your amp, it will be . . . or should be labeled with the voltage so just turn the k**b till it's lined up with the hash mark that says the corresponding voltage


  2. The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).

    You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.
