I would like to know what is the difference between water and stain resistant/water and stain proof.

  1. -resistant means that MOST things (soda, pee, p**p, wine, etc) won't stain the product nor be absorbed into it.

    -proof means that NOTHING will penetrate or stain the product.

    Just as an aside: for years, many wristwatches were sold as 'waterproof' but if they were subjected to DEEP pressure depths, they'd break or leak. Now most watches say "water resistant to ___x___ meters/ft. depth"

    BUT: MTM Technology has invented the world's ONLY waterproof watch, because it was subjected to the same pressure as at the deepest part of any ocean (the Marianas Trench in the pacific, at +/- 35,000 feet deep) and it  DIDN'T leak.
