I don't quite understand the difference between a software publishing system and a server publishing system for a blog. Is one maintained entirely by the blogger while the other depends on help from a server?

And if i'm not a computer-genius, which happens to be better?

  1. Well, to take all the technology out of the way, both of them allow you to blog about whatever it is that interests you.

Blogger is as service (owned by Google). Wordpress is both a service (very similar to Blogger), as well as a server-based software.

The latter (server based software) means that you'll have to download it, install it, configure it, on a web server and start using it. So the difference is whether you want to run your own web server (not your PC) with blogging software, or use one of the available services already being provided on the web.
