  1. Are you talking real-life here?  Or are we referring to Harry Potter in which wizards were male and witches were female?

By the basic definition - there is no difference - both words mean a person who practices magic.

Here in the real world - a male witch is a witch, as is a female.  I've never personally heard anyone refer to themselves a wizard though I know there are some out there that might.  But really, the term is used more so in stories, fairy tales and movies and such.

I'm not sure what you mean by "powers".  Witches have no supernatural powers.  Witchcraft is a magical practice.  Magic is worked by directing energy from within oneself and drawn from natural earth elements.  Anyone could learn and practice witchcraft.

  2. man-woman oh my!

  3. witches and wizards have just the same amount of energy power. witches are woman and wizards are men.

  4. i always just thought witches were female and wizards were male and that's all.  maybe i'm wrong...

  5. I agree with Crystal (waves to Crystal up there). I am a male and identify myself as a witch. Wizard, Warlock, Mage, etc. are considered by most as ranks to be attained in video games. Gender, race, nationality, or sexual orientation aren't all that much of an issue among most pagans and/or magical practioners that I know. It's what's inside a person that counts.

  6. Wizards - Alchemy

    Witches - Nature

  7. Wizards are male, witches are female.

  8. witches to me are more of black magic and wizards to me are white magic that can heal because my grand father was a wizard who can see future he can heal people from sickness and bless them to have more luck according to their destiny of life if they are nice and deserve to be rewarded he will point them a better path to have a better life and if they are not sincere and wicked they better watch their back and it's not his fault because they I've open the door for spirits from the dark to enter I know you also inherited his power sometimes both witches or wizard can be unisex men or women. don't ya forget we got wings :) 4^[]^4

  9. The major differences is one is female and the other is male... that is the only differences.......

  10. I think wizard's are much more connected to Cerremonial Magick, Druidism.

That is a much Higher form of Magick.  They also tend to be shown working more solitary, alone, then witches, when you see them in literature, movies, etc.

For instance, Merlin, in King Arthur.  And the one in the Harry Potter books.  And Lord of the Rings.

Witches cone their power more, by working in groups, or covens.

That is how it seems to me.  Probably many others will have more or different info.

  11. The wizard has 'bits' that witches don't.

  12. Wizards are males with magical abilities, and witches are females with magical abilities. I think that they both have the same powers. Of course, there are different kinds of magic. There is "Harry Potter" magic, which I prefer, with wands and one or two word spells. There is Wizardology, which uses wands also, but uses more of the natural world. And then there is Magick, which uses spells that are paragraphs, and needing types of fabric and herbs and magical circles to perform the spells.

I guess that they could use any kinds of these powers, but I like the Harry Potter one the best; it seems more magical...

I have always thought that the word "wizard" sounds more powerful and magical than the word "witch". With the word wizard, you think of wooden wands and and long robes and hats with stars on them. With the word witches, you think of long, crooked noses with boils on them, and broomsticks. Obviously, there is a stereotype.

They are both equal in their magical abilities, but it varies throughout the individual person.

  13. Technically, male and female witches are both witches. The term wizard was popularized by the movie industry as a male witch who was evil. There is no such thing as a wizard, although many male pagans and wiccans refer to themselves as such. There is no difference in powers, although wizards are said to practice dark arts.

    Good luck!

  14. In what context?

    What definitions are you using?

Witches & Wizards could refer to Harry Potter, D&D & the like. Religiously wise they are two different notions.

For Witch/Wiccan/Pagan followers "witch" is non-gender specific. But those who'd look at Ceremonial Wizards as a form of spirituality - well that seems to attract Males.

    Powers depends on context.
