When I purchased my Equifax 3 in 1 credt report and score, it gave me my FICO score. When I looked up Experian, you can purchase your credit report and Plus Score...

What's the difference?

  1. I have no idea what a "plus score" is -- probably just a cutsy name to sell you something.  The only score that really counts is FICO.  That's what creditors look at.  The best place to get your real, up-to-date FICO is MyFico.com.

    By the way, you can get one free credit report per year  from each credit bureau thru AnnualCreditReport.com.  Space out one bureau every 4 months and that's all you need to check your credit file.  Don't pay for reports or monitoring services -- it's a waste of money.

  2. There are 2 scoring systems the first and oldest is FICO which scores from 300 to 850 with anything that calculates to below a 300 defaulting to a 0.

    The other is called Vantage and scores from 501 to 990.

    Vantage breaks their system down into letters as follows;

    A-901-990

    B-801-900

    C-701-800

    D-601-700

    F-501-600

    While FICO does not have a lettering system the largest credit union in Oklahoma breaks down their scores as follows;

    Elite 740 & up

    Prime 700-739

    Preferred 660-699

    Standard 625-659

    Sub-prime 624 & under

    Experian has been trying to push Vantage onto people since 2006 but the other two credit bureaus have not bought into it yet.
