What's the difference in 3/4 snooker cues and 1/2?

Just wondering what the difference between cues that are joined 1/2 way and 3/4 of the way down the shaft, i've heard that it's due to the balance point when attaching an extension but not sure if this is the only reason.

Just a diffrent design cue Think about it how would a joint make enough difference you could tell one from the other

All cues at one time were made as a one piece but the two piece became more popular as they are easier to transport between venues. The 3/4 cue came into fashion as it's nearly as easy to transport in a case along with an extension as a 1/2 jointed cue (it'll fit just as easy along the backseat of a car for instance) and was felt a better compromise for those that prefered a one piece over the 1/2 jointed cue.

The balance point has absolutely nothing to do with it as a cuemaker can vary that with or without a joint as most cues have some weight added into the butt.

There's nothing to say a jointed or a one piece is better as it's merely personal preference.
