Please don't say go to R&S with this. I know they'll say that psychic premonitions are from "you know who"! Can you distinguish between the two?

  1. the gift is from God and psychics are guessing.

  2. The difference is where they are said to come from. One says a gift from God the other says a natural human ability.

If you believe all human abilities are gifts from God then there is no difference.

    Psi

  3. I don't really see much of a differnce other then perhaps the type of predictions or the person's religious background.

  4. Child of God--do you have PROOF that psychics are only guessing?? I happen to think my abilities ARE gifts from God.

Honestly, Deenie I'm not sure there IS a difference....

  5. of course, there are theories the government has discovered that there is actually a genetic trait for psychic abilities... while the gift of prophecy is of the "holy spirit"

there is really no difference.... one is dedicated to god, the other isn't. both are used for good, so one is not better than the other.

though i think it's funny the bible says fortune-telling is a sin, yet prophecy is fine.... if it comes true, it's ok LOL. otherwise, no difference.

  6. Yes these are wonderful gifts of the spirit, and you will find them all in 1 Corinthians

    ch 12.

After you have a good read at all the spiritual gifts, you will understand a lot better.

Remember these gifts are not given to everyone, but only to the ones God has chosen.

  7. I don't think there is a difference.   But some religious people seemed to think that prophecy existed only in biblical times, and now one should not regard psychic premonitions as having to do with God.   I am not one of those people.

I suspect that psychic premonitions are natural phenomena, and that the laws of the universe have not changed since biblical times.

  8. I don't see them as being very different or far apart from each other.

  9. Einstein concluded (scientifically), that at the speed of light, the past and the future "bend in" towards the present; in other words, they all three occur simultaneously. It would then follow that for that to happen at the speed of light, it must already be happening but not to our "slower" perception. Conclusively, the future is happening right "now", it has "always" been happening and, apparently, some people have been able to tap into the perpetual occurence. Some early Jews had a great notion of God: They believed that God could not possibly exist because that would make "him" a part of our physical universe, and would, therefore, preclude "him" from being a "God". It makes sense to me: "God" would have to be beyond human knowledge or perception capacity or "psychic premonition". The physical universe is not.

  10. The biblical prophecies are verificated by the future.

  11. Simply put Bible prophecy is accepted by God..Psychic premonitions are in the words of the Bible"an abomination".It must be difficult for religious folks to balance the two.If you believe in the Bible. You must believe psychics work for Satan. Then of course, people tend to pick and choose what they want.

  12. From the laymen's point of view: Nothing.

After all, if God didn't want you to have this 'ability' HE wouldn't have given it to you now would HE?

One could suppose the possibility of humility when describing the source of any supernatural power by ascribing it to a divinity.

Religious fanatics could lay claim to the notion that "The Gift from God is God's will, and the Psychics are tools of the Devil"., etc, ad infinitum ad nauseum.

But it all comes down to one thing- Success.

    Do the "prophecies" come true?

Remember- folks have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years.
