  11. england is a country

great britan is england scotland and wales

the UK is england scotland wales and northern ireland

  12. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, more commonly known nowadays as the United Kingdom, or the UK, or Britain (without the adjective "Great" preceeding it) is made up of four constituent, or home nations:  England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland (Ulster).  England, Scotland, and Wales occupy the island of Great Britain.

Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales each have a unicameral legislature led by a First Minister as well as their own Executive (just as American states and Canadian and Australian provinces have their own legislatures).

Natives of all of the above--England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales--can be classified as British, but technically only English subjects can be classified as English.

Of course, Americans and citizens of other countries sometimes lump all of the above under the classification of "English".  For example, historians sometimes talk about French Canadians and English Canadians, which, of course, include Canadians who immigrated from England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.  Americans of British descent sometimes also self-classify themselves as Anglos or Anglo-Americans.

  13. Great Britain is the largest of the British Isles. The term Great Britain is used to distinguish from Brittania Minor or otherwise known as Brittany in France.  The United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  England being just one of the four that comprise the United Kingdom, although erroneously it is often used to encompass all of them.  Interestingly the United Kingdom does not include the Isle of Mann, in the Irish Sea it is a dependency of the Crown.

  14. The United Kingdom is the Union of four countries - England,Wales,Scotland and Northern Ireland. This is a political state and England is only one part of it.

The rest of the island of Ireland is independent of the United Kingdom.

Great Britain is a geographical term and refers to the largest island of the British Isles. It contains England, Scotland and Wales.

  15. England is a constituent country of the United Kingdom that takes up the central and southeastern parts of the island of Great Britain.  Because it is the most largest and populous part, it has often incorrectly been used as a synonym for the U.K.

Great Britain is an island, divided into the three constituent countries of England, Wales, and Scotland.

The United Kingdom is a nation-kingdom composed of Northern Ireland and the three countries of Great Britain.

  16. England is just england

Great Britain is England plus Scotland and Wales

UK is England, Scotland , Wales plus northern Ireland
