  1. pre school means the school life which starts at 4 yrs and daycare is taking care of children

  2. Preschool is for little kids that are actually in school. That's when you actually have a teacher and you learn ABC's there, numbers, shapes, all that stuff.

Daycare can be for kids from basically k-6th grade. They can really do whatever they want to there, as long as it's safe.  Some have activities, but at some, like after school daycares, they really just do anything. AT little kids daycare, like while your at work, your child may do crafts, but usually it would be watching tv or just playing around.

  3. Preschool is more into learning and daycare is just there to take care of your kids. Emphasis on the school in preschool.

  4. Some centers have preschool within their daycare.  Preschool means that you are running a program that enhances learning and pre-kindergarten academics as well as developing social readiness necessary for elementary school. I am a preschool teacher within a child care center, and in the mornings I run the preschool program.  We have circle time, Jesus time (religious center), snack time, activity time, outside time, and lunch.  Depending on the day cares, they do not necessaryily have circle time, activity time, Jesus time, etc.

  5. I don't know why people think day care is "only babysitting" Any good day care should be doing learning activities with the kids. A good day care would not let run around all day and "do what they want" While a day care by definition watches children for most or all of the day (ex-the day care I worked at was open from 7-6). A preschool tends to last a few hours say 9-12. At a child care center I worked at there was children who attended a privately funded program, and a separate room were the state funded preschool class was held. All the children in that center had group time, story and music time, they learned letters, numbers, and many other things. The only difference was that 24 children were taught separately for 3 hours a day, after that the either went home, or joined the other children for the remainder if the day. We teachers did not sit around and let the kids run wild. No day care or preschool should be sticking the kids in front of the tv at all.  A parent should remove their child from any such child care

  6. preschool=school or nursery for kids at about the age of 4

daycare=supervised daytime care for kids(thy just look after them and tell them stories and etc. . .they dont teach them)

  7. Daycare is basically just a babysitting service.

The hours are usually longer, considering it is for when the parents' are working.

Preschool they learn stuff. It usually ranges from morning to the afternoon hours.

  8. Daycare:  Is basically a glorified  babysitting  service some academic  materiel might be covers but not emphasized. For the most part the children play all day. The teachers are  there  to facilitate play.

Pre school:  Helps child prepare for kindergarten more academic focus.

  9. Preschool and Daycare activities should pretty much be the same. You should not be able to tell the difference between a quality daycare and a quality preschool.

  10. Most of it is how the center wants to be marketed and how they want to be viewed.

In day care, the focus tends to be more on a babysitting type service.  In preschool, there is more of an academic focus.  At the same time, you might run into a "day care" that is more academically focused than a "preschool" and vise-versa.

  11. Preschool normally starts at 4 yrs old and they teach children and get them ready for kindergarden.  Daycare normally just watches over the children.
