What's the diffrences between a college & a university.?

i know this is going to sound stupid but is the diffrence that in a university they have dorm rooms & in college you dont.?

Not quite.  Community college, technical colleges, and junior colleges usually don't have dorms, and offer 2-year associates degrees.  However, 4-year colleges and universities usually have dorms and offer the 4-year bachelors degree.  4-year colleges don't have graduate programs, and tend to be smaller than universities, but otherwise there's no difference in the degrees they offer - it's just a matter of size and programs.
