What's the easiest way to establish residency in a state?

If I plan to attend law school in Colorado in about a year and I have a lot of family living there now, what's the best and easiest way for me to establish Colorado residency? Any advice will be appreciated as this is sure to save me a ton of money. Thanks.

I think you have to live in a state for a certain amount of time before you can call yourself a resident of a state.

requirements say that you must physically reside in that state for a continous 12 months.
