  1. Go with Fiona .  You will get half price rail travel to any were in Scotland with your airline ticket.  If you get the train from prestwick tell the ticket guy you want to go to Edinburgh and you pay for it all then rather than getting a ticket to Glasgow then paying for a separate ticket to Edinburgh .  It will work out cheaper also the train is more pleasant and faster than the bus.

  2. Just go to Glasgow! Its much nicer and better than Nedinburgh!

  3. There are two ways.

    1. Train

Walk over the covered bridge to Prestwick Airport Station. Take a train to Glasgow Central (every half hour) - show your airline ticket to the conductor and you will travel half fare. Book through to Edinburgh Waverley. At Glasgow Central, follow the signs to the Inter-Station bus (service 398). Show your rail ticket and you travel for free. Alight at Glasgow Queen Street station and catch the train to Edinburgh (every fifteen minutes). Allow two and a quarter hours for the trip.

    2. Coach

Again, walk over the covered bridge to Prestwick Airport Station, but go out of the station to the adjacent bus stops.  Take an X77 coach to Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station - do not board a coach going to Glasgow University! (The X77 is every half hour; more frequent in the morning peak and in mid afternoon). {Unless it is after 1800 hours, DO NOT take service 4 to Glasgow - it takes the "scenic" and long-winded route!}. On the X77 coach, you can book through to Edinburgh Waverley. At Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station, go the main concourse and right in front of you are the coaches to Edinburgh (Scottish Citylink service 900 - every fifteen minutes, every ten minutes in the peak). The service stops in various places in Edinburgh.  Allow two and a half hours for the trip.

  4. The train station at Prestwick takes you to Glasgow Central then you go to Queens St station to get to Waverley station Edinburgh or a bus direct and takes about 2hrs. Cost one way £22 approx by bus and £25 by train you could hire a car for about the same and get there in just under 2hrs to your destination.

  5. if you show your air ticket at the train station at prestwick you will get half price fare on scot rail it's only two trains to edinburgh if you go by bus you have to go to glasgow any how

  6. get a train from glasgow to edinburgh waverly.

  7. Prestwick is about 40 miles from Glasgow, You would need to get the train to Glasgow Central and cross to  Glasgow Queen street and get another train to Edinburgh.

  8. id say go by bus,get bus from airport to buchanan st bus station and direct bus through to edinburgh, its also cheaper than the train
