I'm 14 and I play classical and blues guitar. I've been offered scholarships for guitar. but I'm really interested in taking boxing. I just love it. my grandfather was a golden gloves champion. but my family doesn't want me to box cause they say that i'll injure my fingers which i really need for guitar. so, what's the effect of it on the fingers?

  1. Well I Must Apply Lotion Daily.

  2. your fingers will be fine as long as you wrap them.

  3. The guy above me took the words out of my mouth. Your fingers will be fine.. no effects on them at all. Occasionally you will hurt your thumb, but really, your fingers are fine. But your knuckles and wrists, now thats a whole other story...

  4. only you could answer that question for yourself. but here is something too consider. education is key to getting a good job. your music skills can get you a scholarship. boxing doesn't have a good chance of giving you a money making career. btw in the ring your concern won't be over your fingers it will be keeping your head attached to where it is and not getting a face makeover. maybe it would be better to stick with the music since this is what will help you get into college. if you still want to box then go for it but remember training for boxing takes all of your time which may not leave enough time for music.

  5. If you wrap your fingers in bandages and wear boxing gloves, they will be fine. If you box too much though, they might get sore.

  6. Its not so much your fingers you should be worring about. Its your  knuckles, wrist and small bones in the back of your hand

and getting hit in the face/head.

`Listen kid you seem very smart why use your hands when you got the brains??????

Just stay in school and play basketball or football

  7. You gotta do whats best for you my man.  If you truly love boxing, then see how you do at it, since you're only 14.  If afterwards, you think you can go far with it, and if boxing is above guitar on your priority list, then, by all-means go for it.  However, if you do not think that you can go far and guitar is above boxing on your priority list, then stick with guitar- you've stated that you've already gotten scholarships.  Injuries come with the territory of boxing, and there is a chance that you will end up hurting your hands, possibly to the point where it will effect your guitar-playing, which is why I said that you've got to know where your priorties are.  If you get to the point where you don't think you'll go far in boxing, then why jeopardize a great future with your guitar-playing?  If you get to the point where you think you can make it to the big time in boxing, then why give up on your dreams?  See what I'm saying- it all depends on which is more important for YOU.  Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
