  1. Irony could mean you have spelt deceitful wrong :-)


  2. Is it talking about the Puritans or Mormons? Because they escaped from religious persecution to somewhere where they could have the freedom to practice their own religion, and then once they got there, did the exact same thing that had been done to them, denied others freedom of religion. That's ironic.

  3. Well they came to America in order to practice religious freedom, and then they denied freedom to any other sect.

  4. I would think it would be that the church denied freedom to prevent any "wrong and deceitful ideas"
