-We are moving into a 5br house.

- 2 huge bedrooms (master and loft conversion), 3 getting progressively smaller but still good size.

- 1 couple and 4 singles will move in.

-Bills will be divided evenly between all occupants so don't factor that in to it.

- Rent is 2904 per month and the smallest room will cost around 410-450.

What is the fairest way to divide the remaining 4 rooms?

  1. First, divide it by 5 bedrooms. The two largest bedrooms should be paying a little bit more than the smaller bedrooms.

  2. Everyone pays the same amount doesn't matter who gets the big bedroom. If everyone has the same house priveledges then all rent should be equal. And the one couple pays as two seperate people...not as one.

  3. I think the best way is to divide the house by square footage units, and then everyone can decide what their willing to pay.

A 400 square foot space, would naturally be less than an 800 square foot space.

Take the total number of square feet (bedrooms only), subtract the common living space area (kitchen, bathrooms, dining room, or great room area, etc.), then take the 5 bedroom sizes, and add up that total~this is the square footage you want to divide for rent sake.

There's an algebraic equation that should help you out with it.

    (Ex. bedroom a + bedroom b + bedroom c + bedroom d + bedroom e = $2,904, then take the bedroom size (square footage) and put it over $2,904,

    so again for example purposes, if the smallest room is say $410 + $429 + $440 + $800 + $825 = $2,904)

    Hope that helps!!
