  1. That depends on the human

  2. The fastest man in the world was Jesse Owens  in the Olympics. He ran 22 mph.

  3. The fastest I've ever heard of is 27 miles per hour.

  4. The average speed for a sprinter during a race is about 24 mph, but that is not your question.

Since times for races are measured from a stop to running, then that is their average speed for the distance.

Elite sprinters can average about 24 mph for the 100 meters.

Their top speed, for a very short distance approaches 30 mph.

  5. well usain bolt has run the fastest 100m:

i think clocked at 43kmph however asafa powell also reached that speed several times during his 9.77s and 9.74 run.

  6. This is not so easy to answer.  World speed records are not measured in MPH, they are measured in seconds and decimal fractions thereof, over many different distances.  The shorter sprints will give the fastest times because no one can maintain that burst of speed over a long race.

The world record for the 50 meter sprint ( the short tracks are indoors because most indoor facilities can't fit a standard 100 meter straight track) was set in 1996 at 5.56 seconds.  Converting that out to MPH will take some time - will edit after I convert.

That speed converts to a 2.98 minute mile, well below the current world record for the mile.  But it works out to just over 20 MPH.

    According to this site:

The fastest human can run just under 28 MPH.  I have no idea how that is measured.  But obviously, the world's best competitive sprinters aren't even close.
