  1. How to "pop-up" on the beach. This is the first trick to master and then on to the fun tricks in the water!!!

  2. well a cut back is going to demand body positioning, bending the knees and balence a bottem turn can be ececuted a lot simpler i mean less body conntrol, the best answer is surf more and keep on working at it and it'll happen

  3. after bottom turns, cutbacks, off the lips and floaters everything else is basically a variation of one of those tricks or purpose-less flair (i.e. chop hops, 180 chop hops, getting up fins first etc.)

if you have a good bottom turn and a good cutback you can surf any wave and rip.  at that point you will learn tricks by basically trying to smack the lip as hard as you can when you cutback, and then you'll learn snaps and reverts and eventually airs.  so yea just keep chuggin on those cutbacks and bottom turns.

  4. try smooth rounhouse cutbacks.

go from the top (or even a little behind the wave) of a non-breaking section of a wave and come all the way around to hit the breaking part

  5. Cutback - it's good to learn to turn well.  After a good bottom turn, start your turn as you near the top of the wave.  Make sure to look into your turn and turn your arms/shoulders.  For a frontside cutback, make sure you take your front hand and have it dip in the water behind you as you make your turn.  This will REALLY help you learn to hold your rail through the turn and maintain good balance as well as look a little stylish.  Make sure you have as much speed as possible - a good cutback starts with good speed which is produced from a good bottom turn.  Have fun!
