What's the furthest any manmade objects have gotten from earth?

Stuff like New Horizons, which is on its way to Pluto and'll be there a in a few years. But right know what's the furthest thing from earth?

  1. I'd say the Voyager I space probe. It was launched in 1977, travels at a velocity of 40,000 miles/hour away from the sun, and is currently about 10 billion miles from Earth.

  3. Yes, it is Voyager 1, which is still operating, by the way.  Voyager 2 is the second farthest away.  You can go here to see where the 4 space probes that are beyond the orbit of Pluto are, as well as the New Horizons probe, on its way out:

  4. Voyager 1 at 15,804,000,000 km from Earth as of May 30 according to the link below. Voyager 2 and Pioneer 10 and 11 are not as far out as that.
